Spanish Camp Summer 2011

Fiesta Celebration
June 23, 2011

Laura Laparra and her daughters who are members of our church put on a fun and educational two week Spanish summer camp! Laura is from Costa Rica and her husband is from Guatemala. Both Carson and Keira participated and learned so much about Latin American culture! The kids learned some Spanish through fun hands-on activities such as cooking, games, songs, arts & crafts! It is amazing how quick my two kids picked up on some basic Spanish and now know how to say a few colors, body parts, numbers, daily expressions, etc. in Spanish! Mark speaks Spanish quite well and so the kids had a fun time coming home from camp and speaking it with their dad!

On the final day of Spanish Camp was the Fiesta day and the campers put on a Fiesta celebration for their families! They showed off their Spanish speaking skills and songs as well as their Latin dancing skills! Check the videos out below to see some of what they learned!

All the campers made their very own pinatas from scratch!

At the Fiesta, the kiddos got to bust open a candy filled pinata!

The campers made homemade salsa and drinks for us to enjoy! It was yummy!

They also made homemade tortillas for us to eat!

Thank you Sister Laparra for a fun two weeks of Spanish Camp!
