Mrs. America 2011

September 6, 2010
My Mom and I with my SV bestie, Diane Tucker, Mrs. America and Mrs. World 2007!

Mom and I with our girl, Corrie, Mrs. Arizona!

My other girl, Lalona, Mrs. Georgia, with Corrie and I!

I traveled down to Tucson to watch my two friends, Corrie, Mrs. Arizona and Lalona, Mrs. Georgia, compete in the 2011 Mrs. America Pageant! I have known Corrie and her family for years and I became friends with Lalona back in 2003 when she was living in Arizona! I was able to attend the preliminary competition and see all 51 contestants compete in swimsuit, evening gown and state costume contest! Corrie and Lalona looked AMAZING and their wardrobes were to DIE FOR! I would of hated to be a judge since all 51 women were beautiful! Corrie and Lalona didn't win, but they sure did walk away with a lifetime of memories. Great job, girls! Love you both! To see Mrs. Arizona and Mrs. Georgia's pictures from Mrs. America and their other events, check out their blogs:

D-backs Game with Grandma Cindy & Grandpa George!

D-backs vs. Colorado Rockies

We had such a fun time with Grandma Cindy and Grandpa George at the D-backs game! The kids were so excited to show Grandma and Grandpa all the fun things that they like to do and see at the D-backs game! I introduced George and my Mom to my favorite game treat, garlic fries! Mmmmm! We even got 5 seconds of fame on the jumbo tron! Thanks Mom and George for driving up from Tucson and spending a fun evening with us at the D-backs game!

Disneyland.....No kids!

Anniversary Trip-Day 3 & 4

What kind of parents go to Disneyland without their kids? Ones like us that haven't been there kid free in 12 years! The last time Mark and I went to DL without our kids was 12 years ago on our honeymoon! I have to admit that our kidless visit to DL was fun, but it is a lot more fun when our kids are with us!

Griddle, Griffith, Angels, and the Bowl!

Anniversary Trip - Day 2

Breakfast on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood at The Griddle Cafe! This place is famous for their huge pancakes! Mark and I ordered "A Time to Love"~ pumpkin pie pancakes filled with streusel, butterscotch chips, and caramel.....topped with powder sugar, whipped cream, and caramel! The pancakes were huge and it seemed like we barely made a dent in them and we were full! Talk about an overdose of sugar!

Everything looked so good on the menu that we had to order the "Peanut Bubba" Crunchy French Toast! Basically two HUGE pieces of french toast dipped in peanut butter crunch and topped with powdered sugar and whip cream! I felt like I was eating desert for breakfast! Loved this place! Check out their website http://www.thegriddlecafe.com/ and read their amazing menu! I was so full when I left this place that I didn't eat a light snack until 10 pm that night!

After breakfast, we drove up to one of the highest spots in Los Angeles and visited Griffith Observatory! This place was made famous in the film Rebel Without a Cause starring James Dean! The observatory has been featured in many moves and TV shows. One of my favorite and most recent movies featured here is Yes Man with Jim Carrey!

A view of the Hollywood sign from Griffith Observatory!

The city views were amazing!

Downtown L.A. in the distance!

We watched an awesome show in the planetarium! The seats were so comfy and reclined back to watch the show on the dome ceiling that I was fighting to stay awake! Add this beautiful observatory to you list of things to see next time you are in L.A.!

Mark and his Mom getting ready to board the Angels Flight Railway in Downtown L.A.! Mark's Mom, family friend, Marry Ann, and Mark's sister, Lisa, met us in L.A.!

Yours truly and Mark's sister,Lisa, getting ready to ride the shortest railway in the World!

Lisa, Sharon and Mark! This ride only cost us 25 cents each!

Mark, Lisa and I outside the Hollywood Bowl amphitheater! My sister-in-law, Lisa, is a huge Harry Connick, Jr. fan and drove from Las Vegas to come see Harry in concert with us!

The "bowl" is huge! This was our seats until we realized a few of us had something blocking our view!

Seriously, why would they sell seats with this view? We had to laugh! Thanks to Marry Ann (Sharon's friend), three of our seats were upgraded and were moved down to handicap seating! LOL!

The shell is set against the beautiful Hollywood Hills! It is amazing the list of Artists that have played here. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli to name a few!

Mr. Harry Connick, Jr. and his Big Band with the Los Angeles Philharmonic! Not only is Harry sexy and talented, but he is quite humorous! The concert was so fun! Harry started off with a bunch of classic romantic songs and then went into some good ol' New Orleans toe tapping jazz and blues!

My Mother-in-Law, Sharon, and I enjoying the show from our handicap seats! Haha!

Mark with his sister and Mom!

Nothing like a Summer Night at the Hollywood Bowl!

Just a teaser from the concert! "It Had to Be You."
