San Francisco Getaway-Final Day

We started Day 3 off with Breakfast at Ghirardelli Square!

We had Ghirardelli hot chocolate and Kara's Cupcakes. What a nutritious breakfast!

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California is one of the most beautiful, and most photographed, bridges in the world.

The Golden Gate Bridge is a 1.7 mile-long suspension bridge. It was an awesome experience to walk across this bridge. My family and I drove across it many years ago, but I don't remember it.

I'm usually scared of heights, but for some odd reason while crossing the Golden Gate Bridge I got a little daring!

Walking Golden Gate Park. This park is larger than New York's Central Park and is covered with more than one million trees. Simply beautiful place to get away from the city.




We made our way back to Ghiradelli Sqare to indulge in a Ghirardelli's World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae!

After eating our chocolate sundae, we walked up one long, super-steep hill to get to the top of twisty Lombard Street. Mark and I were laughing because we felt like we were walking in slow motion. Our legs would not let us go fast.

This is the super-steep hill we conquered! The lazy people or I guess smart people took a cable car up this mother of a hill. We were just too cheap to pay for the ride up!

Going down Lombard Street aka the "crookedest" street in America. The steep hills and sharp curves of this one-way road pass by grand Victorian mansions! This street is truly an incredible sight! Even though the street and homes are beautiful, I would hate to live here because of all the traffic that it gets.

So, so true, but the cold air felt great compared to the 115 degree weather back home in Mesa!!

Well, I finally did it. I've completed our San Francisco trip and can now move onto blogging about the rest of our Summer! One of these days I might find time to keep this family journal updated:-)

Alcatraz "The Rock" Night Tour

Riding the ferry across San Francisco Bay to get to Alcatraz. I didn't get sea sick! Alcatraz is about 1.5 miles offshore from San Francisco (a 15 minute ferry ride).

The Alcatraz tour was the number #1 thing on Mark's to do list while in San Francisco.

Prisoner Cells at Alcatraz had a small sink with cold running water, small sleeping cot, and a toilet. I can't imagine spending up to 20 hours a day in this.

San Francisco Getaway - Day Two

Every great breakfast spot has a line out the door (that's Mark waiting patiently in line)! We started our day off at Mama's in North Beach! This place has been around for almost 50 years. Mama's dungeness crab benedict,the french toast sampler, and fresh squeezed orange juice was sooo good. Thanks Rachel Ray for the recommendation (love her:-)

Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory! This placed smelled so yummy. We had to pay 50 cents to have this picture taken! LOL! It was cool to see fortune cookies being made right in front of us.

AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants! Mark is a "Ballpark Chaser" and has a life-goal of visiting all the MLB ballparks.

Of course we had to do the AT&T ballpark tour. This is Mark in the Giants press room.

After watching Man v. Food (we love this show) v. Ike's Place, we knew we had to go to the Castro neighborhood and experience Ike's Place for ourselves! This place hands down has the best sandwiches in the world!!! Ike's dirty sauce is what makes these sandwiches so yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking of this place.

Our second day in San Francisco was amazing! Mark and I always have such a blast together while on vacation and this trip was no different! We loved walking the streets of San Francisco and seeing all the places we have heard and read about. We enjoyed the nice and cool weather, although it was quite a shock to our body! We ate and snacked at some of the best local food joints in San Francisco! We simply fell in love with San Francisco.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009, marked a big day in the Fryer house! Keira started preschool! Keira goes to preschool two days a week for two hours each of those days. She loves school so much that I can't get her to leave when it is time to go home! Keira is so proud of all her work and comes right home to display it on the fridge (just like her 2 brothers do)! I can't believe what a big girl little Miss Keira is becoming. Keira is growing up way too fast.

Keira has been counting down the days until she got to go to nastics (Keira's term for gymnastics)! She loved every minute of her nastics class and can't wait to go back next week! I don't think Keira has much of a future in this sport due to her build (long & lean) and extremely flat feet! At her 3 year well visit last month she was in the 95% for height (40 inches) and the 50% for weight (31 1/2 pounds)! Keira was diagnosed with overpronation with pes planus (flat feet)! I'm the one to blame for the foot issue, but Mark is to blame for the height and weight issue (I wish it was the other way around)!

Keira was so cute to show her daddy everything she learned at nastics when he got home from work. She for sure feels good about herself and that is all that matters when it comes to sports!
